Compare the Doona Winter Cover and Footmuff to find which cold-weather accessory best suits your baby's comfort and your daily routine.
Quick answer
Choose the Doona Winter Cover for quick, full-body protection from wind and cold, or the Doona Footmuff for a removable, padded blanket that grows with your child through colder months.
How they differ in coverage and convenience
The Winter Cover is a one-piece shield that snaps over the entire Doona Car Seat & Stroller, wrapping your baby from head to toe. The Footmuff is a padded insert with a removable blanket that stays inside the stroller seat area, leaving the upper body more exposed unless you add extra layers.
Why warmth alone isn't the deciding factor
Both accessories use water-repellent materials and soft linings, but the Winter Cover is better at blocking wind because it encloses the whole seat. The Footmuff offers more flexibility: you can remove the blanket on milder days or use it as a standalone layer in a car seat.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Winter Cover: full enclosure: Snaps over the entire Doona to create a windproof cocoon. Best for short trips in biting wind or snow. No removable parts, so it stays attached until you unclip it.
- Footmuff: padded seat with removable blanket: Adds cushioning and a cozy blanket that can be detached. Better for longer walks or transitioning between stroller and car seat. The blanket can be used alone, but the seat area alone doesn't block upper-body wind.
- Price difference: The Winter Cover costs less (USD 35.19 vs USD 69.99), but the Footmuff offers more versatility for year-round use.
